While primarily a short story writer, Melodie has over 200 commercial credits; she has won three awards and has served as an adjudicator for the City of Mississauga Literary Awards. In addition to writing mystery fiction, she has a parallel career as a humorist, with over 100 publications in Canadian and US newspapers and magazines. She is a popular workshop and conference speaker and was opening speaker at the 1999 Canadian Humour Conference in Hamilton. In addition to contest wins, Melodie’s fiction has appeared numerous times in Woman’s World Magazine (New York) and ComputorEdge Magazine (San Diego). In 2000, her short story “The Battle of Beavercoat” was selected by the Canadian Authors’ Association for publication in The Hamilton Spectator newspaper. Her award-winning short story, “School for Burglars,” will be published in the July 2007 issue of Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine.
