Kay Stewart is the author of police procedurals featuring RCMP officer Danutia Dranchuk. The first two, A Deadly Little List and Sitting Lady Sutra, are set on Salt Spring and Vancouver Island. The desire to make money, legally or illegally, drives the plot of A Deadly Little List, as land developers and drug dealers come into conflict. Sitting Lady Sutra weaves together the intergenerational and intercultural consequences of violence.

The third book in the series, due out from TouchWood in 2013, takes Danutia to England’s Peak District, where she discovers remnants of ancient customs, both benign and bone-chilling.

In addition to crime novels, Stewart has published short stories, personal essays, and writing textbooks.

Stewart is a past president of Crime Writers of Canada and co-chaired Bloody Words 2011 in Victoria. A native of Texas, she taught for many years at the University of Alberta before moving to Vancouver Island. She has two adult children and lives in Victoria with husband and sometimes co-author Chris Bullock.
