Cynthia Murphy
Cynthia would describe herself as having lived a zigzag life. She grew up in southern Illinois. When she was a freshman attending St. Louis University, there was great concern that incoming students were not competent in reading and writing. Because of this concern, they were required to take an essay exam in the first semester. Of the thousands who wrote it, only 43 passed. Cynthia was one of them. Shortly after, she rode her bicycle from St. Louis MO to Sudbury Ontario alone, then hitchhiked to Halifax. She did not return and immigrated to Canada instead. She married, had 4 children and after the marriage ended, raised the children on her own from ages 1, 3, 5 and 7 until adults. While raising a family, she taught piano for 14 years. She taught piano four nights per week and Saturdays while attending university full time, including law school. She obtained a law degree from the University of Alberta in 1999 and has been a practicing lawyer since then. Nothing she has ever done in law has been as much fun as writing fiction. At this time, she has one finished novel, another that is mostly outlined and a third in the idea stage. She has 14 grandchildren and lives in Edmonton Alberta Canada
Personally, she enjoys reading commercial trade novels and has read a lot of the ALEX CROSS series, the ODD THOMAS series and others similar in nature. She enjoys reading about quirky and imperfect characters and as such, the characters in her books are often quirky and imperfect.
