Vicki Delany (also writing as Eva Gates)
“It’s a crime not to read Delany,” so says the London Free Press.
Vicki Delany is one of Canada’s most varied and prolific crime writers. Her popular Constable Molly Smith series from Poisoned Pen Press has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Library Journal.
She is also the author of a light-hearted historical series, set in the raucous heyday of the Klondike Gold Rush, published by Dundurn Press, the latest of which was Gold Web, as well as standalone novels of gothic suspense including Burden of Memory and More than Sorrow. She is the author of A Winter Kill and Juba Good, part of the Rapid Reads series.
A Winter Kill was shortlisted for an Arthur Ellis Award for best novella, and Gold Web was shortlisted for a 2013 Bony Blythe Award.
For a total change of pace Vicki is now writing the Lighthouse Library series for Penguin Obsidian, a cozy series set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The first book, By Book or by Crook will be released in February 2015 under the pen name Eva Gates.
Vicki began her writing life as a Sunday writer, with a full-time job as a systems analyst in the high-pressure financial world and three young children. Eventually she was able to take early retirement and settle in bucolic, rural Prince Edward County, Ontario where she writes, reads, grows vegetables, and never wears a watch.
