JASS AUJLA is a Canadian South-Asian author of suspense-thriller fiction.

 Studying creative writing as an undergraduate at the University of Toronto, she later earned a Certificate in Creative Writing from the School of Continuing Studies@ UofT. She's passionate about creativity and personal growth, and is one of CWC’s Ontario Southwest/North/GTA rep. 

When Jass isn't working on one of her twisty novels, she can be found writing poetry and prose on social media. Her microfiction and poetry have appeared in several bestselling anthology publications worldwide.

Katherine Walker assures us that All Will Be Well

Katherine Walker has a background in music, fine arts, design, and naval warfare.  She's a Chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces. She once specialized in advanced areas of naval operations and now focuses on theology.

Her first novel, All is Well was nominated by Crime Writers of Canada in 2022 for Best Crime First Novel and since then, she has joined the board and is a Director at Large.

There's a theme of redemption in Katherine's work and she uses humour to get up close to the tough stuff of life. They say humour and truth are related.

We discuss the power that comes when you believe in your story,  the crime genre's ability to comment on the  human condition and the value of community building for writers.

Charlotte Morganti and Where Small Town Sleuths Hang Out

Charlotte Morganti joins the show to discuss the publication of her first novel, The End Game, which is the first in the D.S. Gabrieli Mysteries series.

Charlotte is a retired lawyer and active member of the Canada West chapter of Sisters in Crime and Crime Writers of Canada. She is widely known for her witty, funny, and occasionally dark short stories, including the Persimmon Worthing Mysteries. Her short stories have appeared in many anthologies and magazines, including Crime Wave,  Black Cat Mystery Magazine, and Die Laughing.

We discuss her transition into novel writing, the “stranger comes to town” frame for stories, and why she likes to write mysteries set in small towns. She’ll also share her tips for successful self-publishing careers.

It's always a pleasure to chat with Jonathan Whitelaw. We discuss his creative process and the joys and pitfalls of writing cozy mysteries with senior characters. 
 
Jonathan Whitelaw is an award-winning writer, journalist, and broadcaster. After working on the frontline of Scottish politics, he moved into journalism, covering everything from sports to music to radioactive waste – and everything in between. He's also a regular reviewer, podcaster, panellist, and commentator. He moved to Canada from the UK in May 2022 and has recently accepted a role in Crime Writers of Canada as our new Marketing Director.
 
Since this is our first podcast, Jonathan occasionally turns the mic around and asks me a few questions so that you can get to know your host, Erik D'Souza.
