CWC Mentorship Program

Elevate Your Craft

The Crime Writers of Canada is proud to introduce a new Mentorship Program designed to help aspiring authors realize their literary ambitions. Whether you are pursuing a traditional, indie, or hybrid publishing path, this program provides a unique opportunity to learn from the best in the business.

By pairing aspiring writers with seasoned professional mentors, we aim to help you refine your work-in-progress, deepen your understanding of the writing process, and build a solid foundation for a lifelong career. Over the course of eight weeks, mentees will work one-on-one with their mentors to:

  • Refine their completed manuscripts.
  • Hone query and submission materials.
  • Navigate the business of writing and publishing.

Please note: This program is open exclusively to CWC members in good standing. Mentors and mentees are required to maintain their good standing while participating in the program. If this requirement is not met, they may be removed from the program.

Share Your Expertise. Inspire the Next Generation.

If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back to the Canadian writing community, we invite you to apply to become a CWC Mentor.

While mentorship is a commitment of time and energy, the rewards of lifting up a fellow writer and becoming a pivotal part of their success story are invaluable. As a mentor, you help shape the future of Canadian crime writing by sharing the hard-earned insights of your own professional journey.

Key Dates & Eligibility

  • Application Period: February 1 – February 14, 2026.
  • Eligibility: Open to CWC Professional Author Members in good standing.
  • Selection: Mentor applications will be reviewed and selected by the CWC Mentorship Committee to ensure the best possible matches for our applicants.
