MOTIVE Mystery & Crime Festival 2024 - Toronto International Festival of Authors

June 7th – 9th, 2024

Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre

Toronto, Ontario

GENERAL INFO

On Friday, June 7th to Sunday, June 9th, 2024, the Toronto International Festival of Authors is hosting MOTIVE, an annual literacy festival focused on crime and mystery.

From cozy crime and police procedural to psychological thriller and true crime, MOTIVE brings together the masters of mystery for criminally good conversations, book signings, workshops and more that will keep readers hooked all weekend long.

Taking place at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre this three-day weekend festival will explore and celebrate a genre that has inspired some of the world’s most gripping stories from Canada and across the world, including USA, United Kingdom, Finland, Iceland, and Korea. Alongside discovering your next best read, you can participate in true crime workshops and hone your own killer writing instincts in the masterclass programme.

CWC-HOSTED EVENTS & MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES

This will be the third time CWC has attended the event, however we need all of your support to make our CWC hosted events a success!

Members will be responsible for their own transportation, parking, and accommodation expenses.

Paid underground parking is available on-site at 235 Queens Quay West, or above-ground one block west at Rees Street and Queens Quay West. For more detailed directions and parking rates, please visit https://harbourfrontcentre.com/explore/.

To get to Harbourfront Centre via TTC, head southbound on the Yonge-University Line to Union Station, and take the 509 Harbourfront or 510 Spadina streetcar to the Harbourfront Centre stop.

For participants of the “CWC Author Tent”

CWC will have a tent at the Festival on Saturday & Sunday (from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm) where authors will sell, sign, and discuss their books. Each author is to bring their own books and a method of accepting payment for their books (ie. cash, e-transfer or square device). Authors should try to be available at their table selling their books for a majority of their assigned day. Please arrive by 10:00 am to set up your table.

Our CWC Event Volunteers (Bruce Johnson, Lorne Tepperman, and Rhonda Douglas) will be available to help answer any logistical questions, as well as take photos for posting on your social media accounts on the day of the event.
