Started in 1984, the annual Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence, then known as the Arthur Ellis Awards, recognizes the best in mystery, crime, and suspense fiction, and crime nonfiction by Canadian authors.

Siemens is all ready a professional member because he's published several short stories. Still, CWC wanted to celebrate the publication of his debut novel, To Those Who Killed Me. About J.T. Siemens J.T. Siemens moved to Vancouver to become a personal trainer, but feels fortunate to have discovered his true love: writing crime fiction. After studying screenwriting at Capilano University, he followed it up with creative writing at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. To Those Who Killed Me, his first book in the Sloane Donovan series, was nominated for the Arthur Ellis Unhanged Award, and will be published by NeWest Press in spring of 2022. His short fiction has appeared in Mystery Weekly, Down in the Dirt, and CC&D.

Mark Grenside, former London UK producer who resides in Malta, is author of critically acclaimed thriller novel Fall Out. He was interviewed by British Columbia crime fiction novelist A.J. Devlin.
Mark Grenside shares his inspiration for Fall Out and chat about his life and career as a thriller author, television and film producer with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, and his role as a serial entrepreneur.
Having worked in insurance – specializing in kidnap, ransom and extortion – Mark Grenside switched careers to entertainment. His eclectic career has since included working for Jim Henson and The Muppets©, creating and producing several television series, arranging the $250 million buyout of the Hallmark Channel International, and co-founding Dragonfly Biosciences and two digital companies.
Making the most of his film industry insider knowledge and meticulous research, Grenside penned Fall Out based on the true scandal of a multi-billion-dollar theft and murder. In the adrenalin-fuelled page-turner, an LA screenwriter is killed shortly after completing his latest script for a potential blockbuster movie, which echoes past events. Before his death, he sends the script to a small group of people all connected to a film that had abruptly stopped shooting years before. Producer Marcus Riley sets out on an increasingly dangerous quest to get the movie made, and, alongside the other recipients of the script, escape an assassin from the past.
